Searching and selecting clipsWith the advanced search dialog in the Professional Edition you can build up complex queries containing any number of terms, combined with various logical operators as required. You can search on any clip attribute, and perform functions such as regular expression matching, date range checking, or matching values from a list, all with a consistent and easy to use user interface. When you perform a query you can use it in different ways: to select all the matching clips in the current window, to display a new window containing just the matching clips, or as a regular Find command (move to the next matching clip). Once you've defined a query you can give it a name and save it for subsequent use. When you save a named query you can also use it as a filter on the main window to temporarily hide those clips that don't match the query. Filters appear in a drop down box at the end of the toolbar. Queries normally apply to the clips in whichever CatDV catalog file(s) you have open in memory. If you use the Workgroup Server, however, you can also apply queries to the centralised database, finding matching clips from any catalog on the server. For clips in memory in a catalog window you can also use the new quick search field to quickly find matching clips. You can type in text that will be searched in any logging field. Type in more keywords to narrow the search: |
