System Requirements

The following requirements are intended as a guide only and other configurations may also work. In case of doubt please download and test the free evaluation with your system.

CatDV 7.0

For the CatDV 7.0 client application you need the following:

  • Macintosh (PowerPC or Intel) running Mac OS X 10.3 or later, or Windows PC running Windows XP or Vista
  • 1024 MB of memory or more (for large catalogs with many thumbnails more memory may be needed)
  • QuickTime 7.0 or later, including QuickTime for Java
  • Java 1.4.2 or later

Under Mac OS X all the required software is included as part of the standard operating system installation. (You can use Software Update to automatically check that all your system software is up to date.)

For Windows you need to install QuickTime and Java. QuickTime is available as a free download from Apple. Java is available as a free download from Sun Microsystems.

Live Capture Plus

To run Live Capture Plus you will need:

  • Macintosh (Power PC or Intel) with built-in FireWire, running Mac OS X 10.3 or later
  • 512 MB of memory or more
  • DV camcorder or deck connected via IEEE 1394 interface (also known as iLink or FireWire)

Alternatively, to use Live Capture Plus 2.1 under Windows you need:

  • Windows PC running Windows XP or Vista
  • QuickTime 7.0 or later
  • Java 1.4.2 or later
  • OHCI-compatible IEEE 1394 interface (also known as iLink or FireWire)

Live Capture Plus can be used on its own without CatDV but some features are designed specifically for use with CatDV.

CatDV Workgroup or Enterprise Server

The CatDV Server is compatible with most common server machine configurations. A typical installation will require:

  • Linux, Mac OS X, Unix, or Windows XP operating systems
  • 1024 MB or more memory
  • Java J2SE (or J2EE) 1.4.2 or later
  • MySQL 5.0 or later database software
  • Alternatively, Oracle 10g and CatDV Workgroup Server for Oracle may be used instead of MySQL (Windows only)

CatDV Server Options

The Live HTML Publisher option requires Apache Tomcat 4 or later in addition to a copy of CatDV Workgroup or Enterprise Server.

Java, MySQL and Apache Tomcat are all available as free downloads for most platforms - full details are provided in the Workgroup Server installation notes.

The wireless barcode scanner option requires CatDV Enterprise client application and a Mac OS X or Windows XP machine with Bluetooth 1.1 interface.

The watch folder worker node option has similar requirements to those needed to run the CatDV 7.0 client application.
