Sales and Support FAQQuestionWhich version of Java should I be using? (Windows)AnswerTo maximise compatbility we generally avoid using features that depend on a particular version of Java, so you shouldn't normally have to worry about which version you're using. In more detail though: CatDV 3.0.9 and earlier are compatible with all versions of Java from Sun Microsystems from 1.1.8 through 1.4.x, while CatDV 3.0.10 adds compatibility with Java 1.5. CatDV 4.0 requires Java 1.3.1 or later. You can download Java for Windows from www.java.com. If you ever have a choice between J2SE and J2EE, or between the runtime environment and the SDK, then it doesn't matter which you pick, though you will normally want the J2SE runtime environment as that tends to be the smallest download. Please note that Sun (the makers of Java) have started referring to 1.5 as Java 5.0. 16/5/2005 |
