Yes, CatDV 1.0 does work with JRE 1.3.0 under Windows, but the CatDV 1.0.x application launcher doesn't work with 1.3 and we therefore recommend JRE 1.2.2 as the preferred Java implementation for CatDV 1.0.x users instead. You can use CatDV 1.0.x with JRE 1.3 but it is necessary to use the less sophisticated batch file launcher. This is provided as an alternative to the standard CatDV.exe launcher to help when troubleshooting difficult configurations and may require modification with a text editor to work. (Most users would not be expected to use the batch file.) CatDV 1.5 is fully compatible with Java 1.3, which provides significant performance improvements, and is therefore recommended for CatDV 1.5 users.
