Is there a generational loss when CatDV writes new movie files for each scene it has detected?

Answer

No, writing a flattened movie file involves making an exact digital copy of the data for each frame (plus writing a new movie header). There is no decompression and recompression involved, and therefore absolutely no loss in quality.
