QuestionCatDV is reporting an audio/video length mismatch (FCP)
AnswerIf an import warning is displayed when you import movies captured with Final Cut Pro
this often indicates that the file has dropped frames. You can check this by opening
the movie in QuickTime Player and comparing the duration of the audio and video tracks.
If the audio track is shorter you probably have dropped frames, even if FCP did not
report this at the time of capture. The total movie duration will match what you expect
based on timecode but the movie will "run out" of data before the end. As a result CatDV will
have a very hard time correctly identifying scene positions because there is no consistent
way to refer to frames within the movie. If at all possible you should recapture any
affected files. (Note that you may also experience similar symptoms with other capture software).
This is an old entry and might no longer be relevant.
