Sales and Support FAQQuestionI was using Live Capture Plus but want to reorganise my catalogs. When I copy and paste a clip from one catalog to another the previews go offline.AnswerIt sounds like you were creating self-contained archives (with a .cdvp extension) rather than standalone catalogs (.cdv). The difference is that a self-contained preview archive contains the preview movies within it, rather than storing them in a shared location so they are accessible to any application. If you didn't mean to create a self-contained archive you can unbundle it quite easily by hand as all it is is a regular folder with the bundle bit set so it appears as a single file. Select the archive, then control-click (or right click with a two button mouse) to display the Finder's popup menu and choose Show Package Contents. You will see a file Index.cdv, which is a regular CatDV catalog, and one or more folders whose name matches your tape name and which contains the preview movies. Simply drag these folders to where you keep your shared previews (normally ~/Library/Application Support/CatDV Previews) but note that it's important you move whole folders rather than individual preview files, and don't rename the folders, as the fact that the folder name matches the tape name is what CatDV uses to find the right preview movie. You can also drag out the Index.cdv file (though you will need to rename that to something more meaningful to you), and then delete the empty .cdvp file once you no longer need it. An alternative solution is to keep all your cdvp archives in one place and add that folder as an "Additional previews" path in CatDV's preferences (under the Media Paths tab). That ensures the archives are in a known place that CatDV can search when it's looking for the preview movie to play. To avoid creating archives in future uncheck the "Self-contained archive" option in the Live Capture Plus settings. 1/6/06 |
