Question

Which media file formats can I import into CatDV?

Answer

CatDV uses QuickTime, so any of the media formats described in article 42617 are supported.

In addition, CatDV has native support for reading basic metadata from WMV/WMA/ASF (Windows media) files, DIF files (used by Pinnacle Purple systems), and from OMF files (as used by Avid and certain other editing applications). (The latter two are in the professional edition only).

You can also install third party QuickTime codecs to support additional file formats, including Flip4Mac to support WMV and MXF files under Mac OS X, DiVX, and others.
