Question

I can't get FCP batch list import and export to work. I'm using the French version of Final Cut Pro.

Answer

The Final Cut Pro batch file format uses column headings that match those shown in the browser window. If you have a localized (non-English) version of Final Cut Pro, or if you have customised the column headings, then CatDV can't import the batch log, and you won't be able to import batch logs from CatDV into FCP.

There is some good news though! If you switch to CatDV 4.1, and if you're using FCP 4.5 HD or later, then you can import and export FCP XML files, and these do work as expected even with localized versions of the Final Cut Pro application. The XML format also supports the transfer of media paths (no more need to reattach the media) and of sequence information and is therefore preferred over FCP batch lists in nearly all circumstances.
