CatDV has partial support for WMV files.

CatDV will analyse WMV/ASF/WMA files to extract metadata such as author, copyright, duration, file format etc. and add clips representing each file to your catalog. It will launch an external application such as Windows Media Player to play the file when you double click the clip, but it won't play WMV files internally or let you create previews or export movies from them.

CatDV will also read any icons from a Thumbs.db file so you will usually get a thumbnail icon for the WMV files you import.

[Updated: under Mac OS X, download the Flip4Mac WMV component and update CatDV to 4.1.1 or later to be be able to play WMV files from within CatDV.]
