It's not possible to select just a directory using the standard file browser in Java. Instead, just select any file (it doesn't matter which one) within the directory you wish to browse. CatDV will then scan all the movie files in that directory (as well as any subdirectories if you enable recursive browsing in the Preferences dialog).
